The Jura Z family comes once again with a nice surprise, the Jura IMPRESSA Z9. This super automatic, although a little spicy on the price side, promises only the best quality and indeed, doesn’t fail to deliver.
IMPRESSA Z9 Professional raises the standard for automatic specialty coffee machines, featuring ideal preparation conditions all within the uppermost clear-cut Swiss technology and presented in the already known Jura trademark elegant and luxurious design.
With a TFT color display, the Impressa Z9 extremely user-friendly coffee machine offers 11 coffee specialties you can prepare at the touch of a button, including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato and one that I’m grateful for, ristretto.
With 13.8 kg in weight, 37 cm in height, 31 cm in width and with a depth of 45 cm, Impressa Z9 is an eye-pleasing super automatic coffee machine with one bean container that can hold up to 280 g and with a water tank capacity of 2.8 L.
Here are some of the characteristics of the hallmarked Jura Z9:
- Aroma+ grinder
- Active bean monitoring so that the grinder always has enough coffee beans
- Crema enhancer 15 bar high-performance pump
- Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System (I.P.B.A.S.©)
- Constant hot water due to its thermoblock heating system
- Milk foam preparation
- Not at all time-consuming cleaning due to its monitored drip tray
- Stronger coffee and espresso due to its variable brewing chamber which allows you to adjust the amount of ground coffee from 5 g to 16 g
Other Jura IMPRESSA Z9 important features are:
- Deluxe design
- Coffee strength adjustment (5 levels)
- 3 levels for brewing temperature
- User-friendly TFT color display with a rotary switch
- Energy saving mode
- Adjustable height and width coffee spouts
- Aroma preservation
- Extremely silent sound design
Impressa Z9 Professional from Jura is another excellent commercial espresso machine as all of the equipment from Jura.
The Z9 has some “impressive” features including one-touch brewing for the following drinks: latte macchiato, coffee, espresso, ristretto, cappuccino, and cafe crema.
The TFT color display makes selecting your brew a fun operation. However, the greatness of this machine is in its brewing capabilities.
The microfoam of the frothed milk is exquisite, and the espresso shots are spot on. Even with so many automations, there are still plenty of customizations available to tweak the beverage to your liking.
Jura IMPRESSA Z9 Pros and Cons
A big pro for me and probably for most people that have friends with different tastes in coffee over regularly is the bypass doser. With this feature, as long as you’re using pre-ground beans, you can brew all sorts of flavored coffees and decaf coffee. My wife appreciates the function, since she can brew her own version of Starbucks lusciousness at home, and she can use those vanilla flavored beans.
In addition, due to its adjustability feature when it comes to height and width, IMPRESSA Z9 offers a spout accommodation of up to 153 mm, so big delicious glasses of latte macchiato or cappuccino are extremely easy to make.
Another useful function in what concerns my coffee habits is the coffee à la carte function which, if selected, lets you create practically any type of coffee you’re craving that moment.
The intuitive operating system allows you to label and arrange on the screen up to 6 individual products which you can then combine through the rotary switch with their 11 specialties. In the end, you can brew a lot of different coffee types.
One of my favorite things about the Jura IMPRESSA Z9 is that it uses 16 g of ground coffee for a shot. You get a much stronger and richer coffee than with most other super automatics.
IMPRESSA Z9’s very aesthetic and smooth design, simply transforms the kitchen décor, imposing both elegance and a high sense of luxury style.
On the “not so pleased” chapter, I did find a few things that beg for improvement. One small thing would be that the milk tube is not cleaned automatically, so you have to wash it manually, of course, every day.
I’d say this is a small thing because the rinsing takes a few seconds, but nonetheless, I could do without it.
One thing that really bugs me about the Jura IMPRESSA Z9 is the not so well designed drip tray which makes it rather difficult for emptying the tray without spilling a few drops on your way to the sink.
I guess I could be less lazy and empty the tray before it’s impossibly full. I would still prefer a more intelligent drip tray design, especially in comparison with all the other impressive features of this machine.
Again on the downside, I feel that Jura Z9 has forgotten a very useful feature which is the automatic turn on.
Pressing one or two buttons in the morning is not a hassle at all, but it’s always nice to wake up from the delicious smell of fresh, hot coffee and, unfortunately, Jura Z9 does not offer that.
With over two decades of Swiss expertise since the first IMPRESSA 500 automatic coffee machine, Jura has spoiled their customers with ever-improving technology and sophistication.
I, for one, am a fan of Jura’s super automatics and Jura IMPRESSA Z9 comes to only reinforce my trust in their innovative technology and overall high-quality products.
